How did you get to stay at Zenko-ji for 3000 JPY per night pax? When I look on the website the cheapest room is 25,000 JPY! Which is well out of our budget haha.

Great to see this. We are booked at Habikino House, a family of 25 (19 adults and 6 kids) this Christmas holiday. I can see it is indeed a beautiful house and spaceous for our family size. I do understand the potential challenge on the location. I hope it turns out workable anyway given the size of our group. Any tips for living in the area would greatly help. Thank you!

    Hi,
Very useful information on Japanese food etc..We are going to Japan next April. Thank you especially for your comments on Mt Fuji. We Will keep that in mind.
We travel from fukuoka to Tokyo in 24 days. Is there a special tip for Kyoto of Tokyo, that is not in The Lonely Planet? We are 4 nights in Kyoto and in Tokyo. Every hotel has been arranged in advance.

When (month) did you travel to Japan? Would you think February is a good time to go there?

Thanks, Mike. Zenkoji Temple was one of the best places I stayed not just in Japan but in all my travels – the peace of the temple at dark (which is when I’m at my most awake) was truly inspiring. Glad you found the post useful.
